Lagoon Erosion

Tuby Run

The Waste Treatment facility at our plant handles spent acid, caustic and rinse tubs, making the water suitable to discharge into the Tuby Run. The settling lagoons located east of Copperweld field are a part of this process. They were constructed in 1968, and the rain and wind have eroded the tops of the dikes over the years, making it necessary to take steps to reinforce the access drives between them. Thomas Docks from Noblesville, Indiana is driving PVC sheet piling around the edges before Huntman trucking from Galion hauls soil from the expansion project to backfill the space behind the piling. This project will make it easier to maintain the proper grade and keep the lines from freezing.
